President’s Message

March 2019

 Message from the President

Summer School Enrichment registration has officially begun. Our elementary online registration began on March 4th and we have registered over 400 students within the first nine days. Online high school registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18th. We are anticipating large enrollment numbers so register early.

April 6, 2019 will be the 15th Annual Service to Education Gala honoring those who give back to education. Please think about being a table sponsor and/or donating a silent auction item. You will find more information on our website about the Gala at www.aef4kids.com. Monies raised will help support our three high school bands’ participation in the 2020 Rose Parade presented by Honda.

It is with great excitement that AEF will offer two Summer Camp sessions at Camp Ta Ta Pochon. Attendance is open to any child from the age of 9 – 15 years old. See information below and go to our web page to register today. This is a great opportunity for your child to spend a week in the great outdoors in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains hiking, canoeing, swimming, making crafts, but most of all meeting new friends and exploring the outdoors with other children.

We have great schools in the Alhambra USD and I am always impressed with all of our employees that dedicate so much time to ensure our children receive the best education possible. From our principals to the teachers in the classroom to our classified team who support our schools, I want to personally thank you. I had the great joy of participating in Park School’s Read Across America event. Principal Dr. Solis, first grade teacher Ms. Huynh and all of the staff at the school did an outstanding job. It was great to see community members come out and participate in such a worthwhile cause. I was able to read two Dr. Seuss books to a first grade class.

If you are a parent of an AUSD TK – 3rd grade student, your child should have received his/her second RIF book to add to your home library. If you would like to support our RIF program, please consider donating to the Dr. Lavonne Wood Literacy Fund through www.aef4kids.com.

We are always looking for new Board Members. Please join the team that dedicates time and resources to ensure all our students in the Alhambra Unified School District benefit from educational opportunities and enrichment programs.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your support of AEF and the students of AUSD.
