February News & Updates

February 2025

President's Message:

We are very busy at AEF getting ready for our summer academy programs, outdoor science camp and the gala.

I must give a huge thank you to Alhambra USD Superintendent Denise Jaramillo, Assistant Superintendent Janet Lees, Risk Management, Facilities, and Alhambra High School for partnering with Alhambra AYSO Region 60 this past month.

We all know with the recent fires, the devastation we witnessed impacted kids. AYSO Region 60 Alhambra/Monterey Park received a request for field usage five days after the fires from Region 13 Altadena/Pasadena, as all of their practice and playing fields were destroyed or not available for kids to play or practice on. Without hesitation, AUSD leadership, Risk Management and Facilities along with Alhambra High School staff worked tirelessly to ensure our neighboring kids could practice and play at Alhambra HS' Moor Field. Region 13 coaches, parents and players were overwhelmed with joy for the opportunity to

bring some sense of normalcy back to the lives of those impacted by the fires. The smiles and happiness that I witnessed at Moor Field seven days after the fires from boys and girls being able to see friends, play soccer and just be a kid again is an unforgettable memory along with the heartbreak of listening to parents and kids talk about losing their homes and everything in it. Thank you AUSD for making a difference and ensuring there is some light at the end of the tunnel for Region 13 players!

Summer School Enrichment registration will begin on Monday, March 10, 2025. Please go to our web page to check class offerings, locations and fees for this program.

AEF is one of few in the area to offer UC/CSU approved classes, accredited by Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Other programs may state their classes are accepted by colleges, with students and parents finding out later that the classes are not. Please make sure you do your research wherever you enroll your child(ren) for high school enrichment classes during the summer so there is no disappointment or misunderstanding when it is too late to make up.

Tickets are still available for our Service to Education Awards Dinner & Gala. The deadline has been extended to February 21, 2025! Each and every year, AEF honors those who make a difference and give back to education in our community. This is a time to celebrate and recognize individuals and businesses that are leading the way to better educational opportunities in the Alhambra USD. Please join us in celebrating with a fun- filled evening on March 1, 2025.

Thank you for your continued support!

Take me home....

Hey there, I'm West! I'm a spirited Goldendoodle boy with a red and apricot coat and a white patch proudly adorning my chest. I'm upbeat and love exploring, and I have this adorable tendency to greet anyone I meet with an enthusiastic wag and lots of kisses. I want to go home to a loving family, so be ready to bid on me at the Gala!
